Using your cell phone to make phone calls is so 1999.
There are many different ways to use your phone as a real productivity tool. Previously, we talked about putting the camera to work in sales, we used IWantSandy to create our own mobile contact management software, we used our phone as a free GPS system and with Google SMS, we got flight status and much, much more.
Now there’s ChaCha, a free mobile answers service for people on the go. You text message a question in normal, conversational English and you get the answer back within minutes.
Alternatively, you could also enter a question on their website or via your mobile browser. It might be an option of you’re on a limited text message plan.
The interesting thing about ChaCha is that it’s answers and given by people, the so-called Guides, so once you get your answer, you could follow-up with another question – just like you’d be texting with a friend.
I asked ChaCha where I could eat a good hamburger and a drink a glass of Paulaner beer – and it pointed me straight to my neighborhood sports bar. Pretty good, I was impressed.
When you think about it – you could easily use ChaCha as a personal assistant who will provide you with city information, directions, addresses, phone numbers and many other types of information a Google-savy person behind a computer can dig up.
You get answers within a few minutes and it’s free. Give it a shot and let us know what you think.
You can also use some of these esignature services that let you monitor customer contracts from your phone. The one I use is called Sertifi and it lets you know when your customer has opened the contract and signed it.
