We had a chance to review recently launched YouMail, a tool to handle and improve all your incoming cellphone voicemail. Voicemail on steroids, if you will. And we’re impressed.

After signing up and activating their free service, recorded voicemails are stored at YouMail’s servers instead of with your current cellphone provider. You can check voicemails by phone (just like you do today) but the cool things start when you start using the YouMail Web Dashboard.

From here, you can listen to and delete voicemails with the click of a mouse button and even forward them by email to anyone you like. With current cellphone services we all know, you can’t even get anywhere close to doing that.

But that’s only the start of the YouMail fun.

If you would like to personalize your voicemail greeting based on who is calling, you can do that. Imagine the ability to create personalized greetings or voicemail messages that will be played only when a specific important prospect calls you. Or a unique message for your boss telling him or her the details of your schedule and phone accessibility for that day, preventing phone tag and frustration.

For important clients that need immediate access while you’re unavailable, you could leave the number of a specialist resource within your company or of your boss – all without exposing their numbers to hundreds of other callers. If a number can be recognized with caller ID, a personalized message can be recorded for that number.

You could even use YouMail to have satisfied clients record a testimonal. Have them call you, YouMail will record the message and you can use it to convince new prospects. The message can be emailed to your automatically once the testimonial has been recorded.

YouMail manages to finally integrate cellphone voicemail with tools (i.e. Email) you already use today and adds a whole layer of new features that can significantly improve the way you communicate with clients and prospects.

YouMail is free and if you don’t like their service, you can switch back to using your regular voicemail in a second. Give YouMail a try and post your feedback in the comments.

We liked their service a lot, we think you will too.
