Many sales professionals become married to their USB flash drives to keep all their presentations with them, on the go. But I can testify: they can break easily or become inaccessible without warning. And hard drives die as well. Yet few sales professionals seem to be aware of the alternative: online file storage and/or backup.

If you are a user already of an online file storage provider, scan this list for other options you haven’t looked at; if you aren’t aware, the list of providers is simply too long, so I’ve chosen to link to eight that I think offer the easiest service and fastest use for sales professionals.

• Streamload MediaMax. 25GB of free storage; upload up to 10MB files; share/download up to 1GB per month.
• MyOtherDrive.com. 5GB of free storage; upload files up to 1GB; share files; no notes on security other than “your data is safe”.
• MediaFire. Unlimited storage; upload files up to 200MB; share files; no notes on security.
• DropBoks. 1GB of free storage; upload files up to 5MB; https security noted, but nothing more advanced than that; no other frills.
• eSnips. 5GB of free storage; share files; promoting your files to drive website traffic; no notes on security.
• Xdrive (owned by AOL and requires you to setup an AOL email address). 5GB of free storage; share/email entire folders of files; allows you to create unique photo-based presentations; high security.
• DivShare. Unlimited storage; upload files up to 200MB; share files; photo files include automatically created thumbnail images; files can stay “private” but no notes on security or encryption.
• Woofiles. 1GB of free storage; sharing; no frills, no notes on security.

Now, keep in mind, some of these are more geared towards file sharing, not secure file storage, so you’ll want to research the security/encryption features. Check them out.
