We all human are one way or another different from each other. It is true for all sales people and so for the prospects. We all have our ego irrespective of our profession or position but to win or to succeed we need to alter our habits or behaviour or perhaps nature too. Since sales people look out for the prospects so he has to alter his habit or nature. Client or prospects are not in our control. And we can not afford to lose a sale because of our negative personality. I am entirely agree with your point of view. I guess the best sales skill is not the talking or arguing but the listening. And listening is possible only when we maintain silence. Hence silence is also a great sales skill.
